A state of the art new 3G astro turf is now ready for action at
East Grinstead Sports Club and is ahead of
schedule.
The all new surface replaces the original sand based
astro turf along with a new shock pad and 5metre high fencing
surrounding the facility.
Block bookings for the new surface have been flooding in
after it was announced that the astro turf was to be replaced
giving a long lease of life to the local football, hockey,
lacrosse and rugby communities.
"I am delighted with the quality of the new facility and the
speed at which it has been installed. We have had a lot of
interest from a variety of local clubs and teams, all jostling
to pre book pitch time on the new surface" said Dave Brown, the
driving force behind the project.

Olympic training is in full swing AT East Grinstead SPORTS CLUB
Mid
Sussex District Council welcomed the Barbados Hockey Team to the
area as training for the Olympics starts at East Grinstead
Sports Club.
East Grinstead Sports Club is one of the venues approved by
London 2012 for pre-games training camps in the lead up to the
Olympics and Mid Sussex District Council is a full partner in
the West Sussex-Ahead of the Game programme. This initiative is
county-wide ensuring residents, businesses and communities get
the most out of the 2012 Games.
Five matches took place on Friday 25 June and over the weekend
at East Grinstead Sports Club. The games, played against local
teams, are part of the Barbados national teams' warm-up to a
major tournament next month.
"This is fantastic for our District and firmly puts us on the
map," said Councillor Pru Moore, Cabinet Member for Leisure and
Sustainability. "Not only do we have brilliant facilities for
the athletes, but also beautiful surroundings for the Team to
enjoy.
"Tourism is important to our local economy and all activity
showing off what Mid Sussex has to offer is a good thing for our
residents, businesses and communities. The Olympics in 2012 will
be a truly exciting time and being part of it in any way will be
memorable. We warmly welcome the Barbados Hockey Team and I am
keen to build a good relationship with the Barbados Olympic
Association in the lead up to the Games and far into the
future."

Grinstead SPORTS CLUB - AGM
- 7.30pm, Thursday 24th June at EGSC
The East Grinstead Sports Club Limited AGM is to be held at 7.30
pm on Thursday 24 June 2010 at EGSC.
It has been a landmark year for EGSC with great achievements in
sport however the company that formerly operated the facility
was forced into liquidation in March. As a result of the trading
situation we will need to set up new arrangements with the
sporting sections to replace the elapsed user agreements.
All current members of EGSC are invited to attend the AGM as you
deserve the opportunity to understand how things may be shaped
in the future and it will provide you with a chance to give your
views. It is intended that one of the items on the agenda will
be a proposal to review the constitution and voting
arrangements.
We are also looking for nominations for Trustees of the charity;
their role is to safeguard the charity and direct it to meeting
its constitutional objectives. To find out more about the
current constitution and the current Trustees, details will be
published on the club website in early June. Click
here for a Trustee Nomination Form.
This is a key EGSC AGM that all EGSC members are invited to
attend as it concerns the continuation of your club.

NEW 3G ASTRO PITCH ANNOUNCED
You may be
aware that East Grinstead Sports Club have been working over the
past 3 years towards replacing the existing sand pitch with a
new 3G pitch. I am pleased to announce that the contracts have
now been signed and works are due to start on 7th June 2010 with
a completion date of 30th July 2010, obviously as with all
contracts of this nature this is weather dependent. The surface
will be a Lano Interplay 40 mm pile, primarily a Football
surface but with lower league Hockey being played. The markings
on the pitch will encompass four 7-a-side pitches, an 11-a-side
pitch and full sized Hockey pitch. Regular updates on the
progression of the project will be posted on the East Grinstead

Good Friday
Netball Tournament A Great Success!
Some of the many thank you notes pouring in...
"Thank you for arranging the netball
tournament on Good Friday and the matches against the
South Africans yesterday, I really enjoyed it. It was an
excellent experience, it's a shame it is all over. Thank
you very much!"
"We picked up our daughter up after netball today
and went to the Harvester in Crawley, as did the South
Africans! They all recognised her and were so thrilled
to see her and chat. Lovely girls! Thanks for a fun
weekend of netball."
"On another note the food was well received
by the South African teams who really enjoyed the whole
experience!"
"Thank you for your support and to your family and
friend’s who gave us so much support yesterday, could
not have run the event without you all!"
A LETTER OF
THANKS
The club hosted and catered for a
Vice Presidents lunch on Sunday 28th March before the
Men's 1stXI Hockey team played their last league match
of the season against Cannock.
The lunch was fabulously well
attended by many EGHC VP's and once again the club
excelled in delivering a stunning lunch worthy of the
VP's in the well presented Ashdown Suite.
SPORT RELIEF a massive success
Over
600 competitors assembled at the club on Sunday 21st
March for this years Sports Relief.
As one of the UK’s biggest
fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire
nation together to get active, raise cash and change
lives and East Grinstead was no exception with nearly
twice as many people competing compared to last year.
The best bit is, all the cash raised will help
people living incredibly tough lives across the UK and
the world’s poorest countries.
